Synthesis of surfactant-templated silica films with orthogonally aligned hexagonal mesophase

Article Abstract:

Dip coating silica precursors and poly(ethylene oxide)-polypropylene oxide (PEO-PPO) triblock surfactants are used to synthesize thin silica films with orthogonally aligned hexagonal close packed (HCP) cylindrical structure. A combination of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) characterization confirmed the preservation of the HCP structure and its hexagonal closed packed.

Self-assembly of crystalline films of interdigitated long-chain cholesteryl esters at the air-water interface

Article Abstract:

The spontaneously formation of crystalline interdigitated bilayer composed of a molecule of a single kind at the air-water interface is demonstrated. Further the grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXD) of thin crystalline films of three cholesteryl esters, namely cholesteryl tridecanoate (CE-13), cholesteryl palmitate (CE-16), and cholesteryl sterrate (CE-18), are presented.

Probing the local pH of polymer photoresist films using a two-color single molecule nanoprobe

Article Abstract:

The application of two-color scanning confocal microscopy to the spatially resolved detection of pH-sensitive fluorophore Coumarin 6 (C6) is reported. The results suggest that the temperature dependent could provide valuable insight into the protonation-deprotonation kinetics of these systems.
