The assembly of coated nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

The study focusing on silica and other metal oxide coated core particles, describes the formation of nanostructured materials through the assembly of nanocrystals. Examples chosen for more detailed discussion showed that careful control of the thickness of the insulating shells could provide sensitive tuning of the global response of the system toward external actions, such as incoming light or applied magnetic fields.

0Synthesis of mesporous carbon using ordered and disordered mesoporous silica templates and polyacrylonitrile as carbon precursor

Article Abstract:

Mesoporous carbons were synthesized from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) using ordered and disordered mesoporous silica templates and were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, and thermogravimetry. Elemental analysis showed that the carbons contain an appreciable amount of nitrogen.

Imaging the photoionization of individual CdSe/CdS core-shell nanocrystals on n- and p- type silicon substrates with thin oxides

Article Abstract:

The electrostatic force microscopy (EFM) was used for the characterization of nanocrystal photoionization and neutralization on silica surfaces. The nanocrystal photoionizination is examined as a function of irradiation wavelength, oxide thickness and doping.
