The growth mechanism, thermal stability, and reactivity of palladium mono- and multilayers on Cu(110)
Article Abstract:
The growth of Pd on Cu(110) at room temperature and the thermal stability and surface reactivity of the resulting Pd/Cu(110) layers were investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results ruled out a simple layer-by-layer growth mechanism. Scanning tunneling microscopy results indicated that the structure of Pd clusters at 500 K is maintained without significant Ostwald ripening. Analysis of the reactivity of the Pd/Cu(110) surface revealed that low Pd coverages exhibit only a small destabilization on the formate, suggesting that the surface is largely capped by a Cu monolayer.

Molecular dynamics study of the energetic impact of Ag19 on Pd(100): an interpretation of mass-selected clusters deposition experiments
Article Abstract:
Molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the behavior of the Ag19/Pd(100) system resulting from the impact of a Ag19 cluster on the (100) substrate of Pd at energies of 20 eV and 95 eV. The degree of implantation and cluster fragmentation was observed to be directly related to the collision energy. The transition from a 3D to a 2D heterogeneous adsorbed structure occurred as the impact energy increased.
