The link between sequence and conformation in protein structures appears to be stereochemically established
Article Abstract:
The link between sequence and conformation in protein structures is established by performing molecular dynamics analysis of the effect of stereochemical mutation in end-protected octa-alanine Ac-Ala8-NHMe from poly-L to an alternating-L,D structure. The results have shown that poly-L stereochemistry might be the fulcrum of expression in proteins of the instructions that they encode chemically in their sequence structures.

Characterization of the stereochemical selectivity of beta-hairpin formation by molecular dynamics simulations
Article Abstract:
Molecular dynamics simulations are conducted to investigate the folding propensity of the L-proline and the L-alanine model peptides. The results confirm the experimental findings, namely that the presence of D-amino acids in the loop region induces beta-hairpin formation.
