The packing of triacylglycerols from SAXS measurements: application to the structure of 1,3-distearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycerol crystal phases
Article Abstract:
The projection of the electron density profile, based on the structure of tristearin molecules crystallized in the beta phase, along the layer normal in structures with a lamellar packing of the triacylgltcerols (TAGs) has been calculated for both tilted and nontilted arrangements of the molecules. The driving forces for the polymorphic transformations taking place during crystallization and a schematic diagram of phase transitions are discussed.

Phase transition, conformational disorder, and chain packing in crystalline long-chain symmetrical alkyl ethers and symmetrical alkenes
Article Abstract:
The differential scanning calorimetery (DSC), infrared (IR), and wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) techniques are used to analyze the effect of incorporation of a central functionality in an n-alkane chain on its conformation related properties. It is found that the effect of chain length on conformational properties is more pronounced in symmetrical alkyl ethers as compared in symmetrical alkenes and n-alkanes.

Influence of single versus double hydrogen-bonding on the crystallization and morphology of self-assembling carbamates with alkyl side chains: Model system for polyurethanes
Article Abstract:
The difference in the morphology and crystallization aspects of hydrogen-bond-mediated self-assembling systems with single and double hydrogen-bonding motif is studied with carbamates as an example. These carbamates have alkyl side chains of various lengths, from C4 to C18 and the crystallization and morphological behavior of biscarbamates.
