Thermochemistry and kinetics of silicon hydride cluster formation during thermal decomposition of silane
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the kinetics and thermochemistry of silicon hydride cluster formation during the thermal decomposition of silane. The objective was to identify primary species and reaction pathways resulting in particle formation and to analyze the dependence of these pathways on reactor conditions. The resulting mechanism was employed in the identification of regimes of non-steady-state and steady-state nucleations and in the delineation of the most important reaction paths in each case.

Influence of the silane modifiers on the surface thermodynamic characteristics and dispersion of the silica into elastomer compounds
Article Abstract:
The influence of the chemical structure of a triethoxysilane (TES), octadecyltriethoxysilane (ODTES), and ODTES/bistriethoxysilylpropyltetrasulfane (TESPT) mixture is investigated using inverse gas chromatography (IGC) at infinite dilution. Thermodynamic results indicate a higher polarity of the silica surface modified with TES as compared to that of the unmodified silica due to new OH groups deriving from the hydrolysis of ethoxy groups of the silane.

Size effect on competition of two diffusion mechanisms for drug molecules in amorphous polymers
Article Abstract:
Molecular dynamics simulations are used for examining the diffusion mechanisms of penetrant molecules with different sizes in poly(lactic acid-co-ethylene glycol) (PLA-PEG). The size effect on the diffusion mechanism of penetrant molecules in polymer matrixes is studied.
