Synthesis and characterization of taper- and rodlike Si nanowires on Si(sub x)Ge(sub 1-x) substrate
Article Abstract:
Taper- and rodlike Si nanowires (SiNWs) were synthesized successfully on Si and Si0.8Ge0.2 substrates and the growth mechanisms of taper-rodlike SiNWs were proposed to be oxide-assisted growth (OAG) and vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) growth. There was an excellent field emission and were attributed to the perfect crystalline structure and the taperlike geometry of the Si nanowires.

Segregation and [H.sub.2] transport rate control in body-centered cubic PdCu membranes
Article Abstract:
The investigation report of the [H.sub.2] permeation of a supported 2[mu]m thick [Pd.sub.48][Cu.sub.52] within the narrow range centered around the alloy is presented. Results reveal that the activation energy and pressure dependence in the intermediate temperature range are uniform with a diffusion-limited [H.sub.2] transport.
