Unusual physical and chemical properties of Cu in Ce(sub 1-x)Cu(sub x)O2 oxides

Article Abstract:

The structural and electronic properties of Cu in Ce(sub 1-x)Cu(sub x)O2 nano systems prepared by a reverse microemulsion method were characterized with synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and density functional calculations. The reduction of the Cu in Ce(sub 1-x)Cu(sub x)O2 nanoparticles was rather reversible without the generation of a significant amount of CuO or Cu2O phases during reoxidation.

In Situ studies of the active sites for the water gas shift reaction over Cu-CeO2 catalysts: Complex interaction between metallic copper and oxygen vacancies of ceria

Article Abstract:

Fresh information about the active sites for the water gas shift (WGS) reaction over Cu-CeO2 systems was obtained using in-situ, time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TR-XRD), X-ray spectroscopy (TR-XAS, Cu K and Ce l3 edges) and infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS). The active sites for the WGS reaction on Cu-CeO2 are identified for the first time and also illustrate the importance of in situ structural studies for heterogenous catalytic reactions.

Physical and chemical properties of MoP, Ni2P, and MoNiP hydrodesulfurization catalysts: time- resolved x-ray diffraction density functional, and hydrodesulfurization activity studies

Article Abstract:

Synchrotron- based time- resolved X- ray diffraction was used to study in situ the crystalline phases present during the preparation of bulk and silica supported MoP, Ni2P and MoNiP from oxide precursors. For Ni2P, MoP and MoS2, a correlation is found between the electronic properties of the metal cations and their HDS activities as silica supported catalysts.
