SA turned off

Article Abstract:

The US government has decided to lift Selective Availability (SA), a system that scrambles the signals from global positioning systems, effective May 1, 2000. The lifting of SA, while still not enough for precision agricultural applications, corrects some of the unpredictability linked to Wide Area Augmentation System signals. Coupled with new algorithm written by SATLOC, the removal of SA restrictions will allow the use of the latest correction for as long as 60 minutes without significant errors.
