BINOL: A versatile chiral reagent
Article Abstract:
The synthesis and resolution of 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diol (BINOL), as well as its use as chiral reagent or ligand is described but it does not cover its substituted derivatives. The aim of enantioselective synthesis or catalysis is to produce chiral products starting from achiral substrates by exploiting the presence of chiral reagents.

Concurrent tandem catalysis
Article Abstract:
The term concurrent tandem catalysis (CTC) is discussed which involves the cooperative action of two or more catalytic cycles in a single reactor. The main aim is to review those systems incorporating at least one synthetic catalytic species that are designed and synthesized
