Formation of cis-(R(CO)Re(CO)4Hal)Na complexes as an evidence of halogen-metal exchange between (Re(CO)5)Na and polyfluorinated aryl and vinyl halides
Article Abstract:
The halo(acyl)rhenate complexes, cis-(Rf(CO)Re(CO)4Hal)Na, are the main products of reactions of (Re(CO)5)Na with corresponding vinyl or aryl halides. (Hal = Cl, Br and Rf = C6F5, trans-(CF3)3CCF==CF). Formation of cis-(R(CO)Re(CO)4Hal)Na complexes can be taken as evidence of halogen-metal exchange between (Re(CO)5)Na and vinyl halides and polyfluorinated aryl. The reaction of RE(CO)5NA with C6F5Cl and C6F5Br in THF at room termperature occurs in the time it takes to mix the reactants. In both, only one reaction product is formed in any quantity, based on 19F NMR spectrum analysis.

Microwave-enhanced metal- and acid-catalysed hydrogen isotope exchange reactions
Article Abstract:
Acid- and metal-catalyzed hydrogen isotope exchange reactions enhanced by microwaves have been studied. Benefits of the use of microwaves to increase rates of hydrogen isotope exchange reactions can be seen in the heterogeneous and homogeneous metal-catalyzed reactions. Deuterium is incorporated very quickly, usually in less than 20 minutes. Labeling of a range of compounds is likely to be useful, and there are implications for tritium.
