Hetero- and metallasiloxanes derived from silanediols, disilanols, silanetriols, and trisilanols
Article Abstract:
A survey of literature published since 1982 on metallasiloxanes prepared from silanediols, disilanols, silanetriols, trisilanols and cyclo(poly)siloxanates is presented. The review, which highlight the synthetic possibilities arising from the development of stable and soluble organosilanols containing two or more hydroxy groups, show the usefulness of incompletely condensed silsesquioxanes as ligands and for silica-supported metal oxide systems.

Comprehensive chemistry of polycarbosilanes, polysilazanes, and polycarbosilazanes as precursors of ceramics
Article Abstract:
Research on polycarbosilanes (PCSs) that contain carbon atoms in their main chain and that are synthesized with the intent of producing silicon carbide (SiC) precursors is reviewed. In the production of ceramic materials, the structure of Si/C/N and Si3N4 precursors is vitally important. Efforts to improve the Yajima synthesis strategy generally focus on three areas, one of which is the production of oxygen-free fibers.
