Inorganic mimics of ribonucleases and ribozymes: from random cleavage to sequence-specific chemistry to catalytic antisense drugs
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to characterize a method of designing ribozymes and ribonucleases. RNA cleavage catalysts were identified by transesterification/hydrolysis mechanisms suitable for covalent incorporation into DNA. Synthetic ribonucleases were developed by the covalent attachment of organic RNA transesterification catalysts to deoxyoligonucleotides. RNA bulges in DNA-RNA duplexes were shown to be susceptible to cleavage by metal complexes.

Diastereoselective reactions of chiral allyl- and allenylsilanes with activated C=X pi-bonds
Article Abstract:
A review of research into reactions involving chiral silane reagents, focusing particularly on sigma-pi-bonded silicon-stabilized nucleophiles of crotylsilanes, allenylsilanes and allylsilanes, is presented. The existing research demonstrates that chiral silicon reagents have utility in a broad range of transformations useful in organic chemistry.
