Mastering beta-keto esters
Article Abstract:
Beta-keto esters are useful for synthesis of many molecular systems because they are multicoupling reagents with nucleophilic and electrophilic sites with facile carbon atom bond formation and selective reactivity. Seven different possible bond formations of beta-keto esters based on the numbering of the beta-keto ester moiety's different atoms are presented. Evolving new methods and novel techniques to increase the potential of beta keto-esters is essential to realize fully utilize them because many conventional methods use unsuitable reaction conditions.

Comparative QSAR: toward a deeper understanding of chemicobiological interactions
Article Abstract:
The biological quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs) containing terms in sigma or sigma-bar are useful in the comparative analysis of electronic effects for heterogenous and homogeneous biological systems. Comparative QSAR are done in mustards, insecticides, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. The electronic effects from QSAR in animals to QSAR in cells and then to QSAR from physical organic chemistry can be correlated in aniline mustards.
