Octatetraene photoisomerization
Article Abstract:
Linear polyene electronic structure and aspects of photochemical and photophysical behavior in the photoisomerization of octatetraene are discussed. Attempts to accomodate the data from the experiment to the general model for linear polyene photoisomerization are presented. Low-temperature isomerization is a method to synthesize a sample of cis,cis-octatetraene but to a limited extent which enables researchers to study photoisomerization activity in a solvent cavity.

Electronic structure and properties of the transactinides and their compounds
Article Abstract:
A review of the literature on the development of relativistic atomic codes and molecular orbital computations for understanding the bonding interactions, stability, electronic structure and other characteristics of transactinide-containing compounds is presented. The review, which shows the applicability of local density functional methods, considers hydrides, halides, oxides and oxyhalides as well as their solution chemistry.

High magnetic fields: A tool for studying electronic properties of layered organic metals
Article Abstract:
The high-magnetic-field properties in the normal metallic state of layered organic conductors, avoiding complications related to various unusual electronic states are reviewed. The magnetic quantum oscillations provide important complementary information on the electronic system in the organic conductors.
