Structural and chemical properties of silyl radicals
Article Abstract:
A review of recent research on liquid-phase silyl radicals is presented. Gas-phase data for pivitol species in included, and a special focus is given to thermodynamic data, obtained from very recent studies, for simple silanes. Silyl radicals' high reactivity toward organic halide had been reported by the late 1960s. The use of time-resolved techniques later allowed the gathering of much absolute kinetic data for the reactions of organic halides with substituted silyl radicals.

Silicon-tethered reactions
Article Abstract:
A review of research into intramolecular reactions involving silicon derivatives that serve as tethering groups, excluding reactions in which silicon does not link the reactants, is presented. Silicon-tethered reactions first appeared in the early 1980s. Increased tethered-partner reactivity, in comparison to that of untethered partners, is characteristic of silicon-tethered reactions.

Direct kinetic studies of silicon hydride radicals in the gas phase
Article Abstract:
Research on absolute rate constants for radical-radical and radical-molecule silicon-hydride-radical reactions is reviewed. The review focuses on gas-phase studies of SiH, SiH2, and SiH3. SiH2 studies are moving closer to resolving 'factor of 2' discrepancies and are maturing in other ways, but SiH and SiH3 studies are relatively immature.
