Synthesis of therapeutically useful prostaglandin and prostacyclin analogs
Article Abstract:
Prostaglandins (PGs) and prostacyclin (PGI2) are natural substances found in animals and human beings. Their therapeutic utility is doubted because of their chemical instability, rapid metabolism and high incidence of side effects. Thus attempts to synthesize the natural compound and to modify the structure of their analogs are numerous. The different synthetic methods for therapeutically useful PGs and PGI2, including the recent synthetic improvements are described.

Total synthesis of natural tert-alkylamino hydroxy carboxylic acids
Article Abstract:
The synthesis of biologically significant natural products with amino hydroxy carboxylic acid functionalities as a core structural feature was described. The natural tert-alkylamino hydroxy carboxylic acids synthesized were manzacidins, sphingofungins, lactacystin, kaitocephalin, altemicidin, neooxazolomycin and tetrodotoxin.

Solvent-free organic synthesis
Article Abstract:
A discussion of the benefits of the solid-state reaction is presented. It is emphasized that molecules are able to move uninhibited in the solid state and even enantioselectively. Solvent-free thermal organic synthesis is identified as a very useful process, especially for industry.
