The ion chemistry of interstellar clouds
Article Abstract:
The ion chemistry of various molecules detected in diffuse and dense interstellar clouds was studied. The diffuse interstellar cloud consisted mainly of H atoms and H2 molecules. The dense cloud molecules were analyzed into hydrocarbon molecules, cyano and amino molecules, carboxy molecules and sulfur-bearing molecules. Enrichment of heavy isotopes in some interstellar molecules was due to the 'isotope fractionation' in ion-neutral reactions. Other interstellar molecules were formed by dissociative recombination and mutual neutralization.

PAH and fullerene ions and ion/molecule reactions in interstellar and circumstellar chemistry
Article Abstract:
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and fullerene molecules were proposed to be present in interstellar and circumstellar environments. The reactions of PAH and fullerene molecules with atomic and molecular ions, and with neutral atoms and molecules were studied. Condensation of carbon chains, growth of polyhedral carbon ions and growth of closed-shell polyhedral carbon ions were possible steps for the synthesis. A study of gas-phase surface chemistry was also reported.

Experimental investigations of radiative association processes as related to interstellar chemistry
Article Abstract:
Different experimental methods for the determination of radiative association rate coefficients for the stabilization of low-energy ion-molecule collision complexes were reported. The methods were classified for high-density and low-density ranges. The temperature-variable radio frequency ion trap method allowed measurement of ternary reaction rate coefficients. The complex and radiative lifetimes for the reactions of H+, C+ and CH3+ with H2 were also reported.
