Metal-catalyzed carbon-sulfur bond formation

Article Abstract:

Recent advances in the chemistry of transition metal-catalyzed organosulfur compounds containing carbon-sulfur bonds are reviewed here. A description of the novel reactions in this field such as reaction of halides with sulfur-containing compounds, allylic sulfide synthesis, addition of thiols to alkynes, alkenes, and allenes is presented.

Transition-metal-catalyzed additions of silicon-silicon and silicon-heteroatom bonds to unsaturated organic molecules

Article Abstract:

This review describes the addition of silicon-element sigma-bonds to the unsaturated organic molecules using transition-metal catalysts. Data indicate that these additions can occur in regio- and stereoselective manners. Additionally, same mechanistic features may influence other element-element sigma-bonds to react with the unsaturated organic molecules in the presence of transition metals.

Catalytic asymmetric synthesis by means of secondary interaction between chiral ligands and substrates

Article Abstract:

Secondary interactions between functions of chiral ligands and substrates strongly shape the enantiodifferentiating transition state in catalytic asymmetric synthesis. Apart from the closeness of the substrate's prochiral center to the central catalyst metal, the formation of a chelate complex via a secondary coordinationsite enables a small chiral material to produce a large amount of chiral product. This twin induction process is exploited in the newly developed strategies for palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylations, Grignard cross-coupling, hydrogenations and Diels-Alder and aldol reactions.
