Card-sized wireless barcode to enter market

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Industrial Equipment Co. Ltd. offers a card-sized wireless barcode reader and a lightweight, wired barcode reader ideal for point of sale terminals. Both readers, which feature novel short-focal-length lens, utilize fewer parts than comparable models due to their capability to digitally process CCD output signals. The card-sized unit can read barcodes in a room with over 100-lux lighting even without a light-emitting diode. The samples of the card-sized unit and the wired unit are available for 98,000 yen ($731) and 80,000 yen ($597), respectively.
