Color Copiers: How They Work and Why They Are So Popular
Article Abstract:
There is an increasing demand for easy and inexpensive color reproduction copiers. There are two types of color copiers: electrograph systems that perform color separation into three fundamental colors, project separated color images on a photo conductor, make color reproduction through the subtractive color process; and silver salt photograph color system that uses a photoconductor for separation into three colors that can be obtained through a single exposure. Color copiers are used by all types of industries and various applications. This is illustrated in table three on page forty-five. The new developments in color copiers are focusing upon ink-jet and laser beam printers.

There are approximately 1.24 million plain copiers in use in Japan with an additional 400,000 sales for the year. Office automation equipment manufacturers indicate that copiers are a key profit product. This profit occurs from the sale of equipment and supplies and maintenance services. Manufacturers are meeting the competition in this industry through price reductions, expanding functions and increased reliability. A chart indicates the domestic and export forecast for plain paper copiers.

The market for plain paper copiers (PPCs) has expanded in recent years. The competition between PPC manufacturers has resulted in improvements in operation, service and copy quality.
