Commodore Introduces Amiga A1000 PC - Breakthrough Technology Offers New Applications, Exceptional Value

Article Abstract:

Commodore Business Machines has introduced its Amiga A1000 personal computer, which is due for September dealer shipment. Amiga addresses the business, home, and educational markets, and for a price of $1,295, offers more than the IBM PC or Apple Macintosh. The basic Amiga comes with 256KB of expandable RAM, maximum 640 x 400 resolution, 4,096 colors, mouse control, and has twice the formatted storage capacity (880KB) compared to the Macintosh. Software includes Amiga DOS, A BASIC, and Amiga Tutor. The computer is about as user friendly as the Macintosh and can be programmed in BASIC, PASCAL, TLC LOGO, C, LISP, and Assembler. Amiga has advanced graphics and typesetting capabilities. With its open architecture design, Commodore plans to include a networking package that would connect as many as fifty Amiga computers.
