Company banks on expertise in IC cards to carve out own niche in electronic payments, commerce applications

Article Abstract:

SecureTech Corp. seeks to make a name in the use of the IC card for various purposes such as electronic commerce, electronic payments and home banking. The company provides support systems by developing security systems or those with commercial applications. A core product of Secure Tech is the ST-101 smart card terminal, which is held to be highly reliable and compatible with smart card protocols (T=01, T=1, T=14). SecureTech sees to its that the push-in and push-out feature of the fully-inserted cards are reliable.

Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd, a Taiwan-based motherboard manufacturer, has a sales target of NT$20 billion for FY2000. Founded in 1986, the company maintains operations overseas, with business offices in Los Angeles, CA, Osaka, Japan, Hamburg, Germany, and Beijing, China. Currently producing 450,000 motherboards a month, company president James Liao said the company will take an aggressive approach in pursuing new motherboard-related businesses.

Sales of panasonic's business faxes climb despite weak market

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric Company Ltd. has formed a collaboration agreement with Royal Philips Electronics' Philips Semiconductors division for the development and marketing of charge-coupled devices (CCDs). The deal calls for technology exchange for frame-transfer CCDs that will be used for digital still cameras and camcorders. However, both companies will use their own brands to market the products.
