Report on the 18th Summer Consumer Electronics Show
Article Abstract:
There were 1,381 companies displaying products at the 18th Summer Consumer Electronics Show held in Chicago, Illinois. Displays of 8mm videotape recorders increased from last year. There were also more cellular car telephones, videotape recorders, and educational software packages. Atari introduced the 7800 Pro System. There were fewer personal computers at the 1984 show because of heavy demand and because of insufficient MSX software. It is expected that demand for MSX will be greater in Europe. Because of the breakup of AT&T, there were almost 200 firms showing telephones, with cordless phones the major product. Photographs of the show are included.
