Helping Women Become the 'Best Man for the Job.'
Article Abstract:
As of the mid-1980s, after nearly two decades of emphasis on liberation and non-discrimination, male corporate managers outnumber their female counterparts by about eight or nine to one in the United Kingdom. There are at least three reasons for the imbalance: an implicit stereotypical notion according to which managerial qualities are a function of masculinity itself; certain invisible policies and procedures that work against the advancement of women even where overt corporate intentions are quite the opposite; and situations in which traditional understandings of what it is to be a manager and what it is to be a woman begin to conflict. A table listing twenty British institutions that offer special educational opportunities to women with managerial goals is included.

Banking in the Middle East: The Computer Unveiled
Article Abstract:
Banking applications in the Arab World have readily integrated computers for use. Mainframes and minicomputers are the current marketing trend, although not very advanced as of yet. The Saudi- American bank (SAMBA) is the most advanced of the banking services in the Middle East. Packages are a must in this area, because of the lack of programming skill in the Arab World. IBM is the main company putting its foot in the door although there are many others rushing to this area.
