IBM Acquires Rolm Corp.- Introduces New Computers, OA Software Library
Article Abstract:
Moving into the telecommunications market, IBM has acquired Rolm Corp., a manufacturer of private branch exchange (PBX) equipment. The two are presently developing several products, including an IBM PC incorporating a telephone. IBM has also added a library of office automation software with applications including word processing, electronic mail and calendar. An enhanced version of the IBM PC AT, a high-end microcomputer, and a low-end mainframe computer have also been added, filling previous gaps in the existing product line. In addition, thirty-one business programs in two integrated packages have been released for the IBM PC.
