The computer printer market in Japan is benefitting from the growing demand for personal computers. Manufacturers of color-ink jet printers have launched models in a wide range of styles and functions despite the continued erosion of prices as a result of maket saturation. Meanwhile, the market for color laser printers is expanding at a phenomenal rate with sales volumes of 20,000 units in the 1st qtr if 1999 alone, equivalent to the total sales in 1998.

Digital technology gives terminal multiple capabilities, facilitates network use

Article Abstract:

Toshiba TEC Corp's latest line of fax machines and digital copiers that uses digital technology to offer multiple capabilities and facilitate their application in a network environment were exhibited at CeBIT '99 in Hannover, Germany. The company's DP5570, DP6570 and DP 3580 digital copiers are all capable of serving as both fax machines and metwork printers. The TF 631 fax machine is capable of serving as a network printer and as a computer.
