Plan now for next tax season
Article Abstract:
Employees must prepare themselves for the next tax season by following six steps. First, if their employer offers 401(K) plans, workers must maximize their contributions which can help reduce present taxable income. Employees must look for tax-favored investments, such as a tax-deferred product or vehicle and tax-advantaged investments. Also, workers must consider mutual fund distributions and learn to sell stock mutual fund shares that have the smallest gain. Other moves, such as giving donations to charity, can also help reduce workers' tax bills.

Forty years after
Article Abstract:
Michael E. Hoffman has been an editor at Aperture since the 1960s and recalls working with photographers Minor White and Paul Strand. White started and devoted the magazine to photography as an exploration of the meaning of human experience rather than art for art's sake. The magazine almost ended in 1964, but continues with a small paid staff and free contributions from its published photographers.
