Lower Price for IBM PCs Pressures Competitive Manufacturers

IBM's announcement that it would reduce prices on the PC series from eighteen to twenty-three percent has forced other personal computer manufacturers to lower their PC prices. This has resulted in lower profit margins for many manufacturers. IBM reportly cut the price of the PCjr because of the success of the Apple IIe. The Apple Macintosh may be another reason for the price cut. The IBM PC is pictured.
