Minolta's multimedia cameras, 'mix & match' SLR, digital characteristics

Article Abstract:

Minolta Co. Ltd. utilized its broad know-how in electronics, cameras and optical systems for its RD-175 multimedia camera and Dimage V digital still camera. RD-175 has a three-CCD system for excellent color contrast and resolutions with around 1.75 million pixels. The camera uses a PCMCIA card for portability, an SCSI-2 port for computer connection and an Adobe Photoshop plug-in software. Meanwhile, the Dimage V has zoom and macro features as well as a rotating and detachable lens and a 1.8-inch LCD, which serves as viewfinder and monitor.

Minolta targets 7% annual growth in latest 5-year plan

Article Abstract:

Minolta Co Ltd is embarking on a five-year plan to stimulate sales by 7% to 8% a year between 1999 and 2003. Called 'New Excellent 2003,' or NEXT03, the plan calls for a focus on the company's core competencies in optical and image output technologies. The strategy also seeks to bolster the company's global marketing system. The company hopes the end-result is consolidated sales of Y800 billion by 2003.
