Profile - Charles Lecht: A Visionary Moves Ahead

Article Abstract:

Charles Lecht is a man of many accomplishments. As a computer scientist he served on the staff of MIT and MITRE air defense systems research projects. As a programmer he worked for IBM and as a manager on post nuclear mobilization applications for IBM and as a manager on post nuclear mobilization applications for the army. Lecht founded Advance Computer Techniques Corp. consulting and software company and now chairs the Lecht Science Inc. think-tank. The latest of five books authored by this authority is 'The Waves of Change.'

Profile: Mitchell Kapor's Success Story: Easy as 1-2-3

Article Abstract:

Though only thirty-one years old, Mitchell Kapor is already president of Lotus Development Corp. Kapor taught himself BASIC language and organized Apple Computers' owners in Boston. Kapor developed and adapted a statistical program, originally used by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for personal computers. Kapor sold the program rights for $1.2 million. He later developed the 1-2-3 program which can be used on an IBM personal computer.

Sales figures during the 1982 fiscal year were approximately $1.2 billion. Private branch telephone exchanges constitute a significant part of Siemens' manufacturing capacity. Siemens' is concentrating on Teletex, an improved version of the TELEX.
