Blender whips the odds against digizines
Article Abstract:
The 'Blender' digizine is a magazine published on CD-ROM. The bi-monthly is supported with ads from Sony, Dewars and Levi's. It took three years of development and one year of publication to get the digizine to its current status, but the staff feels it was a rewarding journey. Users who subscribe can expect to get an exciting CD-ROM every other month. It features stories that are enhanced with hypertext links and QuickTime. When Blender debuted in 1994, it had 5,000 subscribers. That base has grown to 65,000, while competitors Medio and Substance have fallen off the scene. The staff of five produces the product with Macromedia Director, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.
