At Cendant, training translates to hospitality

Article Abstract:

Hotel chain Cendant Corp of New York City, NY, has launched a two-year program to upgrade its information system. The program called Project PowerUp! will cover the chain's well-known brands such as Ramada, Days Inn and Howard Johnson, and several of its franchises. Cendant has tapped service provider Cyntergy of Phoenix, AZ, as its partner in the project. The partners used three different software packages because of the wide variety of hotels in the chain.

Legato to acquire Vinca Corp

Article Abstract:

Backup/recovery and storage management vendor Legato Systems Inc of Palo Alto, CA, has announced a deal to acquire high-availability and data protection software developer Vinca Corp. Under the deal, Legato will issue a combination of stock and cash with a total value of $942 million to Vinca Corp. The acquisition will give Legato access to Vinca's StandbyServer products and its installed base of 20,000 customers.
