Human resources management: a new deal for careers

Article Abstract:

Careers have changed in the UK with rising job losses, and new jobs being created. Loyalty has become less important and performance and employability have become more important. Employees think of jobs in terms of what they can learn to use in any company rather than where they can go in a particular company. Organizations are using core employees and peripheral workers who are often on a self-employed basis. There are fewer secure jobs but just as much work.

In Canada QWL took a different turn and the public sector became involved.
