A new blend for Gevalia proves to be successful
Article Abstract:
Sweden-based Gevalia Kaffe has prospered in the US market because of its direct-to-consumer program that was launched in the mid-1980s. A Gevalia catalog was launched in 1993 to sell incremental items related to the coffee experience. When it did not elicit the desired response rates, it was revamped in 1998. As a result Gevalia Kaffe is delivering specialty or gourmet coffee by mail to a significant number of US customers on a regular basis in 2000.

Tea cataloger brews movie tie-in
Article Abstract:
The Republic of Tea is launching a mailing of 240,000 catalogs featuring a 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' tea and book for sale. The cataloger is hoping to cash in on the popularity of the movie and even delayed printing the book until after the Academy Awards were presented so it could call 'Crouching Tiger' an Oscar winner. The company held printing production of the catalog until the day after the Oscars.
