Aberdeen debuts European venture

The Aberdeen Group has launched its European customer relationship management (CRM) practice, with research analyst Ute Appenzeller as the first employee. Appenzeller will cover the European CRM market, including marketing automation, electronic marketing, personalization, sales force automation and related services. European clients will now have access to CRM@Aberdeen, a survey-based advisory service that integrates primary rsearch, analysis, research publications and marketing consulting services.

Internet hub kickoff reaches $100B market

YouthStream Media Networks, a New York-based on-campus marketer, is set to launch mybytes.com, an Internet hub targeted to college students. The site will be promoted mainly through advertisements in magazines, posters and postcards to reach its intended audience of 10 million current and soon- to-be college students. Nike, BMW and Ford are among the 600 consumer product companies that have already expressed their interest to participate.

Wine cataloger Liquor by Wire of Chicago, IL, has announced that its Internet sales in leaped by 600% in Dec 1998 compared to Dec 1997. The company reported that sales increased by 41% and its total number of clients grew by 34% in 1998 compared to 1997. The average order size increased to $295 in 1998 from $280 in 1997, while online orders grew from $95 in 1997 to $120 in 1998
