Four teams that have bid for contracts to build and operate new prisons in Fazakerley, England and Bridgend, Wales, must make revised bids due to Home Office concerns that the prison designs may be inadequately secure. 300m pounds sterling prison bids sought

Article Abstract:

The UK home office plans to construct prisons in Bristol, Manchester, Essex and Birmingham, investing a total of 300 million pounds sterling. It has requested a small group of contractors to bid for the work, which is expected to go ahead regardless of the outcome of the forthcoming general election. All four schemes must yet gain planning permission, and the negotiations for planning permission may be the responsibility of the winning bidders.
