Counting the days
Article Abstract:
Adapting computer systems to deal with the millennium date change will be a serious issue for all industries, although the extent to which individual companies are affected will depend on a number of factors. These include the age of the software being used, the approach of suppliers and the nature of the computer systems. The best way to prepare for the millennium date change is to appoint a senior manager as a year 2000 project manager. It is important to establish what approach suppliers are taking, and it may be worth getting in contact with the supplier's user group.

Counting the cost
Article Abstract:
Windows account for a small proportion of a building's overall cost but are expensive to repair and maintain. Office building windows are in between 4% to 10% of building's costs whilst windows for residential buildings cost in between 3% to 9% of the overall building cost. Builders and owners who aim to keep costs low will choose cheaper windows which need a high amount of maintenance. Builders should include the guarantee and life expectancy of windows within the overall cost of a building.
