FedEx Ground unveils Home Delivery service

Article Abstract:

FedEx Ground will introduce a residential delivery service called FedEx Home Delivery which can serve up to 50% of the US population on Mar 13, 2000. FedEx Ground pres/CEO Daniel J Sullivan said they would dispatch their contractors later in the mornings so they can serve their customers up to 8:30 pm. FedEx Ground will be managed separately from FedEx Home Delivery but FedEx Home Delivery will use FedEx Ground for its package and sorting operations.

Big brown to open pack-and-ship stores

Article Abstract:

United Parcel Service of America Inc (UPS) of Atlanta, GA, will open several new mailroom services stores in Mar 2000. The stores, which will be located in metropolitan areas, are intended to target consumers and small business owners who frequently ship packages. They will hold packages for customer pickups, sell office supplies, provide copy services and mailbox rental and sell UPS products.

FedEx reports increase in first-quarter earnings

Article Abstract:

FedEx Corp has posted increased revenue, operating income and net income for the 1st qtr FY2001 ending Aug 31. Its revenue rose by 11% to $4.8 billion from the $4.3 billion it reported during the same quarter in FY1999. Its operating income increased by 10% from $284 million to $311 million while net income was up 6% from $159 million to $169 million, also in the same period in 1999. The positive results have been attributed to increased volume growth in most areas of FedEx's business, increasing workforce productivity and improved revenue per package at FedEx Express.
