Firms target Americans' sex lives: Viagra campaign finds robust prospecting

Integrated Medical Resources (IMR) of Lenexa, KS,, which manages a nationwide network of clinics that treat impotence, has been generating enormous response from its marketing campaign highlighting Viagra, the breakthrough impotence treatment, and citing its 28 clinics offer the pills. IMR started dropping a series of direct mail pieces to some 50,000 current and former patients as well as 150,000 previous callers to its toll free information line a week following the Food and Drug Administration's approval of Pfizer's Viagra. So far, over 600 prospects have called the network's toll-free line after receiving IMR's mailings and seeing its direct response commercial.

Drug company offers free calling time

Teva Marion Partners, a pharmaceutical company based in Kansas City, MO, is slated to drop 1,500 mailings promoting its new drug called Copaxone. The mailings will target three demographic groups: healthcare professionals, patients with multiple sclerosis and employees of multiple sclerosis societies. The mailings will also include a survey package on Sprint prepaid phone card that will collect patient and professional opinions about the drug as well as suggestions. Meanwhile, the Sprint card, which is worth 30 minutes of long-distance calls, is being sent out as an incentive to potential survey respondents.

Firm targets South Asian market

Niche Media Inc., a Philadelphia, PA-based direct marketer of multimedia CD-ROMs, will launch a virtual community aimed at South Asian market. The site will allow visitors to consult a beauty, career or marriage counselor, participate in online chats, place a personal ad, and purchase a selection of 15,000 South Asian CDs and videos. The company intends to expand the site that would include communities for Latinos, Chinese and Koreans. Niche Media founder Bhana Grover is also waiting for a response from AT&T on a proposed deal for the company to package Niche Media's online software, WorldNet, with CD-ROMs.
