Springfield Marine Co. building on adversity

Article Abstract:

Springfield Marine Co is expanding with two new buildings due to a fire that gutted its plant and office building in Nov 1999. The constructio will not only replace the losses incurred from the fire but will also expand Springfield's facilities to meet demands of increased business. Construction started in late spring on a 99,000-sq-ft manufacturing and warehousing facility and an 18,000-sq-ft research and development center with office facilities. Completion of both facilities is slated for fall 2000.

Revenge to upgrade, enlarge Miami facility

Article Abstract:

Revenge Marine Inc has been granted up to $9.6 million in federally backed industrial development revenue to finance the upgrade and expansion of its manufacturing operations in Miami, FL. The company has lined up several projects to use the fund. These include purchasing the 8.5-acre facility it has been leasing in the city and constructing a 125,000-square-foot plant on the site for building its Egret and Blackfin lines. The company also plans to use the funds for accelerating its development of composite technology.

Fla. company makes bid for success online selling new, used marine gear

Article Abstract:

Fort Lauderdale, FL-based Marinebid.com Inc sells new and used marine equipment such as boats, bulkheads, outboards and turnbuckles through online auctions. Its targets include marine supply firms, yacht brokers and dealers and boating enthusiasts. All equipment are open for auction for a maximum of 45 days. Response to the online site has been excellent, according to the company's president, Roger Kostman, with 1,500 loggers daily and seeral boats already sold as of May 1999.
