Great White CEO steps down amid stock fraud allegations

Article Abstract:

Great White Marine and Recreation Inc pres and CEO A Colin Smith resigned in connection with a stock fraud suit brought by the SEC. The SEC Div of Enforcement claimed that Great White caused the unregistered distribution of some 14 million shares of its common stock from which it received $11 million. The SEC also accused Smith of misusing $3.5 million of the funds for his personal use. The firm's board of directors appointed Smith's son, Christoper Smith to serve as CEO.

At Brunswick, a new emphasis on marine

Article Abstract:

Lake Forest, IL-based Brunswick Corp has appointed George W Buckley as its CEO and chairman. Buckley, who has been managing the Mercury Marine Group since 1997 takes the place of Peter N Larson who is due for retirement. The change in leadership also signals a complete shift in corporate strategy from Larson's diversification plan. Buckley's first move is to divest Brunwick's fishing, camping and bicycle businesses which failed to meet the company's expectations in 1999.

Sonic Jet goes into venturing into the Vortex

Article Abstract:

Sonic Jet Performance Inc, popular manufacturer of high-performance personal watercraft for the racing and rescue markets, has introduced its 19-foot and 22-foot Vortex boats. The launching of the Vortex line is part of the Huntington Beach, CA-based boatbuilder's strategy to expand into the larger recretional field, and thus increase sales. The company has revealed that it will soon release 31-foot and 52-foot versions of the Vortex boat.
