Why TV never takes us seriously
Article Abstract:
Several UK construction industry bodies are seeking to improve the public image of builders after a series of high profile television programmes have depicted the trade in a negative light. Builders federations have issued guidelines to building firms, which highlight the need to show their companies in a positive manner. Tips include promoting good works on local television and suggesting building projects for show sets. The building industry is keen to shed its image of itinerant, irresponsible trades people.

More to the point
Article Abstract:
The Southwark needle, a 25-piece Portland stone tapered obelisk next to London Bridge station in London, England, is part of the Southwark Gateway scheme to revive the area on the corner of Duke Street Hill and London Bridge South. It leans at an angle of 19.5 degrees, and is designed to point to the attractions of Southwark and to mark the site of a medieval gateway to the city. Designed by Eric Parry Architects, it is based around six post-tensioned steel rods, in four different lengths.
