Merger creates third-largest European e-tailer

Lastminute.com has acquired larger French rival Degriftour for 58.9 million pounds in Sep 2000. The acquisition has made lastminute.com the third largest e-commerce merchant and the largest European-owned one. It also puts lastminute.com in a stronger position to ward off the expected invasion of Europe by two leading US online travel services, namely, Expedia and Travelocity. Degriftour agreed to the merger due to its desire to go pan-European.

Boise Cascade Office Products sells European operation
