Article Abstract:
Austrians claim responsibility for the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) used commonly for driving tunnels through hard rock formations. But the tunnel construction industry in order to not to offend the sensibilities of Austrian tunnel engineers, is looking for a terminology like Sequential Excavation, which better describes the ongoing tunneling processes.

Karahnjukar -a Nordic mega project
Article Abstract:
The Karahnjukar hydro-power project involves driving some 70km of tunnels as well as dam construction and the building of an underground power plant. The initial tunnel construction using Tamrock rigs is already running well ahead of schedule and the first of the three Robbins TBMs is now on site and being assembled in the harsh winter environment.

Abdalajis - tunnelling commences
Article Abstract:
The 7.1 km long Abdalajis twin tunnels driven by Mitsubishi and Robbin TBMs, are constructed for Spain's new AVE High Speed Rail Line between Cordoba and Malaga. Details of the project and equipment used are reviewed.
