Natural gas provider gets go-ahead from California
Article Abstract:
UtiliCorp United, a Kansas City, MO-based natural gas provider, is now reaching more retail businesses with less effort following California's approval of the simpler voice verification process. With the new system, prospects just stay on the line while phone representatives transfer them to a live operator or a voice message system that prompts confirmation. Previously, the state required businesses to sign confirmation letter before they were able to switch gas utilities, a process that proved to be time-consuming. UtiliCorp now bares that it is seeing positive results in its telemarketing of Energy One as a cost-saving gas supplier. The key to the utility's increase in sales are reportedly the high-trained telemarketing reps who are up-to-date on daily changes of the utility industry.

Jewelry telemarketing campaign a real gem
Article Abstract:
Jan Bell Marketing boasts of the success of its telemarketing effort of calling previous buyers and asking them to attend a VIP jewelry show at one of its 499 locations within Sam's Club discount stores nationwide. The positive responses are attributed to the fine-jewelry retailer's relationship with customers or those Sam's Club members who have previously bought jewelry from Jan Bell's store counter. Since the campaign began in 1997, Jan Bell has seen a 50% growth in sales. Meanwhile, it took six months for the company to collect the records of previous buyers and develop a single database. It then hired TeleQuest to handle the telemarketing.
