Does functionalism work?
Article Abstract:
There is concern the functionalist movement in architecture will not make buildings any more long-lasting than buildings from the past. Very modern style buildings often deteriorate and start to look dilapidated very quickly. The materials never seem to fulfill all the promises made by the manufacturers. Fashionable buildings do not last because by their nature they become dated. Their use as a functional building often becomes unsuitable for modern requirements. A building which is of out of date will start to look run down.
