Northstar goes marine

Article Abstract:

Cadillac's Northstar 32-valve, 318-hp, double overhead cam V-8 automotive engine has been adapted for marine use by Millington, TN-based Indmar Products Co Inc in partnership with General Motors Corp. The engine, which was adapted for use by Vonore, TN-based MasterCraft Boats, will be introduced in the boatbuilder's FY 2000 line of MasterCRaft MariStar performance powerboats. The automotive engine ranked in the highly respected Ward's Top 10 World Engines listing for three straight years.

Jig takes the headache out of engine installations

Article Abstract:

Mechanical foreman Marcel Girard has developed a novel, unique piece of equipment which has vastly simplified the job of boat engine installation and alignment. Girard's invention is an engine jig that is easy to use and simple in appearance. It is made of aluminum and duplicates a number of key engine parameters, including height, width, footprint, coupling type and alignment. Girard has already sold 75 of his jigs and has applied for a patent on his invention.

Boat International USA editor takes top job at ShowBoats

Louisa Rudeen Beckett, editor of ShowBoats International magazine has resigned from the post to form her own company. Jill Bobrow has been appointed the new editor-in-chief of the magazine which is owned by CurtCo Media.
