Restoration drama
Article Abstract:
The 18.5 million pounds sterling lottery-funded restoration of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, UK has provided improved staging facilities and backstage accommodation. The restoration was undertaken after the theatre was damaged by the bomb which destroyed Manchester city centre in June 1996. The 1970s built space-age theatre module was altered to fit in better with the original building which was built as a cotton exchange in 1921.
