Study: UK two years behind US on Web
Article Abstract:
A study done by British market research firm Mintel International projects online sales in the UK would rise from 1.2 billion to 5.4 billion pounds sterling within four years' time. However, the study also shows that the UK lags behind the US by two years in developing its Internet economy. Mintel also notes that men were the early adopters of Internet shopping in the UK as they were in the US. Women are fast catching up with the men, already accounting for 31% of online shoppers.

AOL, Wal-Mart in UK marketing pact
Article Abstract:
America Online Inc (AOL) and Wal-Mart Stores Inc have signed an agreement for a strategic marketing initiative in the UK and have took a joint 22.5% stake in a UK shopping portal. Under the strategic marketing deal, AOL disks will be placed in 240 ASDA retail stores in the UK that are owned by Wal-Mart. AOL agreed on investing in the shopping portal ShopSmart to ease negotiations for the ASDA deal.
